 There's nothing like a
sincere, friendly greeting to warm the heart and set the mood for the
service. So, our H.U.G.S. volunteers are there at the doors to make
sure you are directed to the right place right away and receive all the
information you need to completely enjoy the service, such as the
sermon outline and important church information for upcoming events.
H.U.G.S. is an acronym for Hospitality,
Ushers, Greeters, and
Safety/Security. HospitalityStrive
to make each visitor feel comfortable and at home,
find what they need, introduce visitors to appropriate people, answer
questions, etc.
UshersUshering helps—not only visitors, but
also the
speaker—create a better environment for the entire service.
Ushers help seat people, help with communion, help with collecting or
distributing materials, etc.
GreetersA greeter is the first person a visitor normally
sees. Therefore, a
good first impression is important for the overall experience of the
newcomer, as well as the continued loving family atmosphere of the
regular attendee. Greeters welcome people at the doors, give them a
bulletin, etc
Security/SafetyIt is vital that we create a safe environment at
TCOC so parents will
feel at ease about their children and their belongings.
Security and
Safety help with children’s check in, help keep premises
secure
during service, help with traffic, etc.
S.T.O.P.
Training
The Guardian System is a
child abuse prevention
program designed especially for churches. At its heart is the S.T.O.P.
(Screen, Train, Operate, Plan) program which has proved to be a very
effective deterrent to child predators who target churches. At TCOC we
ensure that every child is protected. Therefore, any volunteer who
desires to work with children, youth, hospitality or security, must
fill out an application, complete the S.T.O.P. training session, and
agree to a background check. Our S.T.O.P. program is headed up by
Brandee Webb,
please feel free to contact her if you have any questions
or concerns.
H.U.G.S.
Mission Statement:
The purpose of the H.U.G.S. ministry is to
provide the best possible customer service for all first-time visitors,
as well as, serving our church people in accordance with our purpose
statement. The ministry of hospitality must be the spirit by which we
conduct all aspects of H.U.G.S. Bearing the Fruit of the Spirit, with
unconditional love at the helm, is the best way to exhibit
Christ—therefore making people feel welcome and accepted.
"Share
with God’s people who are in need. Practice
hospitality.”
Romans 12:13 .
